Job Vacancy: Full-Time Caretaker/Supervisor – Royston Town Hall

Location: Royston Town Hall
Salary: £14.50ph
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours/week, 8am to 4pm (including 30 minutes unpaid break)
Contract: Permanent (flexibility required)

Royston Town Council is seeking a reliable, proactive, and hands-on Caretaker to join our team and play a key role in the day-to-day upkeep and smooth running of Royston Town Hall.

This is a varied role that also includes supervising the caretaking team, helping to coordinate duties, ensuring high standards are maintained, and supporting colleagues as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Opening and closing the Town Hall and auxiliary buildings for meetings, events, and public use
General maintenance and cleaning duties to ensure the building remains safe, clean, and presentable
Setting up rooms for council meetings, hirers, and community events
Carrying out minor repairs and reporting issues that require external contractors
Assisting the Markets Manager on Wednesdays and occasional Saturdays with setting up and managing market logistics
Supervising the caretaking team and supporting the effective delivery of caretaking services
Ensuring the security of the Town Hall and auxiliary buildings

What We are Looking For:

A practical and adaptable individual with a strong sense of responsibility
Good communication skills and a friendly manner when dealing with hirers, councillors, and the public
Previous experience in caretaking, facilities, and/or maintenance (supervisory experience an advantage)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Flexibility, especially around early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekend work
