Royston Town Mayor's Christmas Message 2022

Published: 23 December 2022

The joyful season of Christmas is felt around Royston in more ways than one. This great joy is not limited to one day but to a season of sharing, giving and spreading happiness everywhere.

Living in Royston I have experienced the generosity and kindness of the people of our town. The happiness people spread by sharing their time, talents and resources is commendable. This sense of caring we extend to one another is indeed the Christmas spirit being lived every day of our lives.

In my personal visits I have noticed that our local shops and businesses are doing well, thanks to the support we all extend to them. It is much appreciated and as your Mayor I thank you all.

I have been fortunate to visit many businesses in town. What has really touched me is the sense of responsibility to the community they all practice. Their policies which reflect social responsibility are indeed a blessing and I thank them for their support to many charitable causes in and around Royston. I'm also grateful to Royston First (BID) for their contribution in supporting local business and the wider community.

I am looking forward to visiting some of our local care homes over the festive period. I hope the season of Christmas allows us all to be mindful of the less fortunate in our midst as I know many of us are supportive to various charities. It also reminds me that many of our community members will be at work on Christmas Day and their sacrifice is much appreciated.

May the spirit of Christmas and peace remain with all of us this Christmas and in the New Year.

Councillor Mary Antony.
