The Mayor of Royston has made the following statement:

“Royston Town Council joins the country and the entire world in mourning the death of our beloved Queen Elizabeth ll. It is with great sadness and sorrow we realise the void that will be created by her Majesty’s death. The Queen has ruled longer than any monarch in British history becoming a much loved and respected figure in the world. She will be deeply missed. On behalf of the people of Royston, I extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to the Royal Family and the citizens of the United Kingdom.”

As a mark of respect Royston Town Council’s flag at the Großalmerode Garden between the Town Hall and the Royston Police Station, will be flown at half-mast. A book of condolence will be opened for the public to sign at the Town Hall Office from 12 noon until 3pm today, Friday 9th September, and then from 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday of next week.

There is also an online book of condolence for residents of Hertfordshire for those who would like to leave a message.

For any members of the public wishing to lay flowers, there will be a designated area in the Priory Memorial Gardens.
